FAMOHIO,Inc. annually recognizes individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution to or impact in the bleeding disorders community. If you know of an individual or organization, deserving such an award, please submit a nomination identifying the person and explaining why that person should receive an award to FAMOhioInfo@gmail.com.

The Ira Gaffin Memorial Award

This award is presented to an individual who has provided extraordinary voluntary service to the hemophilia community. This merit based award is offered once each year and is open to any individual or couple whose unstinting service on behalf of the hemophilia community of Ohio exemplifies the generous spirit of Ira Gaffin.

Thomas Drake Special Recognition Award

This award recognizes the contributions and efforts of individuals affected by hemophilia or other bleeding disorder to Ohio’s bleeding disorder community.

This award recognizes the contributions and efforts of individuals not affected by a bleeding disorder to Ohio’s bleeding disorder community.

This award recognizes individual(s) for significant participation in legislative advocacy on a state, regional or national level.

William R. Dennis Award

This award recognizes an organization that has made a significant contribution to the well being of Ohio’s bleeding disorder community.

The 2019 William R. Dennis Award is awarded to the five Ohio Hemophilia Chapter/Foundations:

Central Ohio Chapter, National Hemophilia Foundation; Northern Ohio Hemophilia Foundation; Northwest Ohio Hemophilia Foundation; Southwestern Ohio Hemophilia Foundation; Tri-State Bleeding Disorder Foundation

Dirk Scheerhorn Communications Award

This special recognition award recognizes an individual or organization for communicating useful information to Ohio’s bleeding disorder community—such as newsletters or other forms of communication.
